 BMI Fills Writer-Publisher Relations Position

Nina Carter has been promoted to Associate Director, Writer-Publisher Relations, in Nashville. Carter moved to Nashville last year from BMI’s Atlanta office, where she was heavily involved with the planning and execution of the BMI Hip Hop and R&B Awards, local showcases, and South by Southwest offerings.

While in the Nashville office, she has been a key component of the success of the Eastside Sounds showcases, Maui Songwriters Festival, and Mountain High Music Festival, in addition to managing relationships with songwriters. Her new role will see her signing and providing service to writers in indie, rock, hip hop, film and TV, and country, as well as providing new showcase opportunities for artists in these genres.

 

SESAC Promotes Two Senior Positions

SESAC has announced the promotions of Ellen Bligh Truley to Senior Vice President, Corporate Relations, and Cathy Grizzell to Senior Vice President, Human Resources and Administration. Effective immediately, the promotions were announced Thursday (March 3) by John Josephson, Chairman and CEO of SESAC.

Truley will continue to oversee all marketing, advertising, sponsorships, publicity, event production and digital strategy for the music rights organization, as well as for Harry Fox Agency, Rumblefish and SESAC. In her expanded role, Truley will be instrumental in the formulation of SESAC’s future marketing and creative strategies as they expand across SESAC’s combined portfolio of businesses. Truley will work closely with the senior management teams in New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Miami, San Francisco, London, and Portland, Oregon, as well as SESAC headquarters in Nashville. She reports directly to Josephson.

BMG/Big Deal Sign Dave Berg

Songwriter Dave Berg has jointly signed to Big Deal Music and BMG.

Berg’s songwriting credits include the chart-toppers “Somebody” (Reba), “Stupid Boy” (Keith Urban), “If You’re Going Through Hell” and “These Are My People” (both recorded by Rodney Atkins) and “Moments” (Emerson Drive). Notable cuts include Carrie Underwood, Kenny Chesney, Darius Rucker, Jewel, Blake Shelton and Sara Evans among others. Berg was named Songwriter Of The Year by Billboard and NSAI in 2007. He was given the same honor by ASCAP in 2008.

 

Tin Pan South Gears Up for April Events

More than 40 artist/writers are among those set to perform during the 24th annual Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival, presented by Regions Bank and slated to be held April 5-9 in Nashville.

Country Music Hall of Famers Bill Anderson and Bobby Bare will be joined by Clint Black and Steve Wariner. Kelsea Ballerini, Mickey Guyton, Kip Moore, Maren Morris, Kacey Musgraves and others will also perform, as well as The First Lady of Rockabilly Wanda Jackson and British singer/songwriter Lucie Silvas.

Venues this year include 3rd & Lindsley, Blue Bar, The Bluebird Café, Commodore Grille, The Country, Douglas Corner Café, Hard Rock Café Nashville, The Listening Room Café, Station Inn and Whiskey Rhythm Saloon.

Fast Access Passes will go on sale at 10 a.m. today, March 8, at TinPanSouth.com. Individual tickets will be available at the door of most shows, and prices range from $10-25.
