SESAC Moves Into New Headquarters

SESAC has now consolidated its two office spaces into its global headquarters at the new address, 35 Music Sq. E. in Nashville. The $20 million project, which occupies 110,000 square feet, will include all of the company’s core departments, including Writer/Publisher Relations, Business Affairs, Business Development Center, Corporate Relations, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Licensing and Royalty Distribution/Research Services Department.

Independent rights management company ole has inked a deal with Nashville songwriter Tony Martin. Martin’s songs include 15 No. 1 hits, such as “Time Is Love” by Josh Turner and “Banjo” by Rascal Flatts. He has also notched eight Top 5 and five Top 10 tracks.

Under the deal, ole has purchased Martin’s catalog and future co-publishing rights.

Brennin is the latest signing to Deluge Music’s Nashville roster. Brennin is also represented by WME.

Carnival Music has signed Marla Cannon-Goodman to its roster of talented songwriters.

While still working as a nurse in the 1990s, she penned “The Fool,” which Lee Ann Womack recorded in 1997. The song topped the country charts, becoming the first No. 1 single for both writer and performer. Cannon-Goodman followed the hit with additional chart-toppers including “Ten Rounds With Jose Cuervo” (Tracy Byrd), and “Cleaning This Gun” (Rodney Atkins), as well as songs that have been recorded by Eddy Arnold, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, Billy Currington, Sammy Kershaw, Blake Shelton, George Strait, and more.

She recently penned several songs with newcomer Tucker Beathard, including his current single “Rock On,” while Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson recorded the Cannon-Goodman composition “Unfair Weather Friend” for their acclaimed Django and Jimmie duets album.

ACM Announces Song/Songwriter of the Year Nominees

Song of the Year and Songwriter of the Year nominees have been announced by the Academy of Country Music (ACM) to complete 2016 ACM Awards categories.

A professional panel comprised entirely of award-winning songwriters helped select the nominees for the category that were then voted on by the Composer class of ACM Membership to appear on the final ballot.

The 51st annual ACM Awards will be held Sunday, April 3, airing live at 8 p.m. ET on the CBS Television Network.

NSAI Celebrates Chart-Topping Songs

The Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) celebrated its latest No. 1 Party, sponsored by Klindt, Cole & Associates, on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at the Music Mill, NSAI’s Music Row headquarters.

NSAI honored 18 Nashville-associated writers whose songs topped the Billboard Airplay, Digital, Hot or Mediabase charts between August 2015 and December 2015 in both country and Christian music formats.
