The Association of Independent Music Publishers (AIMP) will host its third annual AIMP Nashville Awards at The Ryman Auditorium on Monday, May 7, 2018. The evening will again feature performances and appearances from artists and industry executives, while highlighting Nashville’s independent music publishing community.

Nicolle Galyon Extends Publishing Deal With Warner/Chappell

Warner/Chappell Music, the music publishing arm of Warner Music Group, today announced that it has extended its worldwide publishing agreement with award-winning songwriter Nicolle Galyon. Galyon’s most recent work includes Keith Urban’s “Female” and “Coming Home,” Lady Antebellum’s “Heart Break,” Kenny Chesney’s “All the Pretty Girls,” Lee Brice’s “Boy,” and Dan + Shay’s “Tequila,” as well as pop venture “Consequences,” for Camila Cabello.
Galyon made a mark on the industry with Keith Urban’s No. 1 hit “We Were Us” featuring Miranda Lambert, and with Lambert’s lead single “Automatic,” having contributed to five songs on the country icon’s album Platinum, which won the Grammy for Best Country Album in 2015, and Album of the Year in 2014 via both the Academy of Country Music (ACM) and the Country Music Association (CMA). “Automatic” received a 2015 Grammy nomination for Best Country Song, and was awarded ACM’s 2014 Song of the Year (in both the Artist and Songwriter categories), and CMA’s 2014 Single of the Year. In 2017, Galyon broke barriers by co-writing and co-producing RaeLynn’s album Wild Horse, marking the first time in a decade that a female co-produced an album that debuted No. 1 on the Billboard Country Album chart.
Country Music Television (CMT) named Galyon a mentor for their 2018 Next Women of Country campaign, and the CMA Foundation recently selected the songwriter as an ambassador for their Music Education Matters program.
Low Country Sound, Warner/Chappell Sign Channing Wilson

Songwriter and musician Channing Wilson has signed a worldwide agreement with Dave Cobb’s Low Country Sound and Warner/Chappell. Wilson’s songs have been recorded by Luke Combs, Jason Eady, and Tyler Farr.Low
The Georgia native recently released his own LP, Live at Eddie’s Attic, recorded at the famed Georgia music club.
Wilson is a BMI songwriter and WME artist, represented by Joey Lee and Jonathan Insogna at WME.
John Prine Signs With Downtown Music Publishing
John Prine has signed a worldwide publishing agreement with Downtown Music Publishing. Downtown will represent over 230 compositions from Prine’s songbook as well as works recorded by Johnny Cash, Bonnie Raitt, Kris Kristofferson, Carly Simon, Ben Harper, George Strait, Old Crow Medicine Show, Norah Jones, Bette Midler, Miranda Lambert, Zac Brown Band, and many others.
The agreement will also cover Prine’s anticipated new album, The Tree of Forgiveness, which is his first new material in over 13 years. Produced by Dave Cobb, the album is set for release on April 13th on Prine’s own indie label, Oh Boy Records. In celebration of the new album, Prine will embark on an extensive tour that will span throughout 2018, including a special co-headline concert at New York’s Radio City Music Hall on April 13 with Sturgill Simpson.
Prine’s compositions include “I Just Want To Dance With You,” “In Spite Of Ourselves,” “That’s The Way The World Goes Round,” “Long Monday,” “20th Century Is Almost Over,” and “Speed Of The Sound Of Loneliness.”
Milk & Honey, My World MGMT, Third And Verse Music Publishing Launch Nashville Operations
Los Angeles-based artist management, marketing, and A&R firm Milk & Honey, has opened a Nashville office in The Nations, along with My World MGMT, and Third and Verse Music Publishing.
Shelby Yoder has been named Manager and Head of Nashville for Milk & Honey and My World MGMT, as well as creative for Third and Verse Music Publishing. Yoder will be the regional representative of more than 50 songwriters, producers and artists including Hodges, Oak Felder, Sir Nolan, Greg Holden, David Ryan Harris, Gabe Dixon, Steven Solomon, and more. Prior to this she was Director of Professional Membership and Events at the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI).
Lucas Keller is founder and president of Milk & Honey, and is partners of Third and Verse Music Publishing with producer David Hodges and David Margolis (owner of My World MGMT). Together, the team share the core values of putting songwriters first and have put their stake in the ground with new offices and studios in Nashville’s up-and-coming “Nations” neighborhood.
Hodges (who has been managed by Keller for the past nine years) recently moved to Nashville after 15 years in Los Angeles. He departed his band Evanescence to become a songwriter. Hodges has penned Evanescence’s “Bring Me To Life” and “My Immortal,” Christina Perri’s “A Thousand Years,” Carrie Underwood’s “See You Again,” Kelly Clarkson’s “Because Of You” (later cut by Reba which would go on to be a country hit), Daughtry’s “What About Now,” Ben Rector’s “Brand New, ” Maren Morris and Vince Gill’s “Dear Hate,” Seth Ennis “Woke Up In Nashville” as well as songs with Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum, Tim McGraw, Dan + Shay and others.
The group’s publishing company Third and Verse has been around for only a couple years and have already put up a global No. 1 with James Arthur’s “Say You Won’t Let Go.”
