Trisha Yearwood will be honored at the ASCAP Country Awards.

ASCAP has set Monday, Nov. 2 for its 53rd annual black-tie ASCAP Country Music Awards. The invitation-only ceremony will be held at the Omni Nashville.

At the event Trisha Yearwood will receive the ASCAP Voice of Music Award, presented to songwriters and artists whose music gives voice to the spirit of a generation. Past recipients include George Strait, Amy Grant, and Kenny Chesney.

The ASCAP gala will also honor the songwriters and publishers of ASCAP’s most performed country songs from April 1, 2014 through March 31, 2015.

MTSU recording industry students will learn the tricks to jingle writing thanks to a new course taught by Jerry Kimbrough.

Kimbrough is a top exec at Warner/Chappell Production Music. Odie Blackmon is program director for MTSU.

ASCAP songwriter-artist Jeffrey James has signed an exclusive publishing agreement with Sony/ATV Music Publishing. The deal marks Sony/ATV Manager – A&R/Creative Mark Abramowitz‘s first signing since relocating to the Nashville office from New York City earlier this year.

​ASCAP Associate Creative Director Evyn Mustoe has been working with James for the past several years. James was recently featured on ASCAP’s stage at the Forecastle Festival in Louisville, as well as at ASCAP’s monthly showcase, the “We Create Music” Series, and ASCAP’s quarterly rock showcase, “Almost Famous,” both held at Nashville venue The Basement.

Sony/ATV has also signed songwriter Andy Wills to an exclusive publishing agreement. Wills is also affiliated with Torrez Music Group. 

He is an accomplished writer who penned Jerrod Niemann’s current single “Blue Bandana” which is rocketing up the country charts. “Blue Bandana” has set a new benchmark for Neimann, earning him the best country radio impact week of his career.

Terry McBride has signed an exclusive long-term publishing agreement with MV2 Entertainment. McBride has had cuts by Trace Adkins, Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Reba McEntire, George Strait and many more including over 25 songs recorded by Brooks & Dunn, which led to 13 singles and 12 BMI Million Airplay awards.

Songwriter/producer Alexi Von Guggenberg has signed an exclusive publishing agreement with Big Yellow Dog Music. A recipient of the prestigious Peter Gabriel Production Award at the Berklee College of Music, Guggenberg writes and produces for multiple genres, including pop, hip-hop, R&B, dubstep, country and dance. He has had several song placements on major television networks.

Hit songwriter/producer Dallas Davidson‘s Play It Again Publishing has welcomed songwriter Trea Landon to its roster. Claxton, Ga., native Landon took up music performance and songwriting during his teenage years, before putting together a band and touring around the Southeast. He moved to Nashville after attending Georgia Southern University. Landon joins a roster including Kyle Fishman, Brian Kolb, Houston Phillips and Maggie Rose.

ASCAP hit songwriter Mark Selby has signed a new publishing agreement with Carlin Nashville. Selby has written more than 10 top 40 singles and four No. 1 singles. Among his biggest hits are the Dixie Chicks’ Grammy-winning “There’s Your Trouble” and Kenny Wayne Shepherd’s “Blue On Black,” which was Billboard’s 1999 Rock Track of the Year.
